Old Stone Hill Residence B

The site for these projects consists of 21 acres of old growth forest along the Stone Hill River in Pound Ridge NY. The property adjoins the Pound Ridge Reservation, a 5500 acre nature preserve, the largest such land tract in Westchester.

The two residences were designed to complement each other, although they are visually distant. White forms and luminous interiors are the common denominators. Large expanses of glass walls provide a window on the parade of nature outside. Both residences were designed to provide bright, neutral light for substantial art collections, in a museum like setting. An innovative three story high translucent barrel vaulted roof suffuses spaces with shadowless light, and a 25 foot high by 60 foot long glass wall provides an open white marbled interior with uniform and bright living and exhibition space.
